I went to a "Relay for Life" book fair this past weekend at a local church. They had tons of books there that had been donated for the sale. I must have spent about 2 hours browsing through the titles. I had a box set aside and kept adding to it as I would find a book I wanted. I was just a little embarrassed when I finally checked out and had to have one of the men help me carry it out to the car. These are some of the treasures I went home with. A whole set of "Best in Children's Books" in great condition from the 1950's. And of course I am a sucker for Nancy Drew. There is no way I could pass those up.
I also found these old ministry books, lovingly worn from being handled so often. Inside are hand-typed and written notes that got left behind. Reminders and favorite prayers that someone took the time to jot down. Sometimes there's a name and phone number jotted down on a scrap of paper, or notes written in the margins.
I also came across some books to read just for fun...several of the Oprah's book club selections and "The Godfather," which I have always wanted to read.
I should be set for awhile now in the reading department!
