A few posts back, I showed you a picture of a robot in the works; pieces and parts scattered across a tabletop.
His personality really developed as he was being put together. I started out with a vintage battery tester for the body....
....and a volt meter for the head. I added an old cap pistol that still works. I can remember playing with these when I was a child. It is bolted into one hand and the other is holding a pair of handcuffs.
I added a few more finishing touches to bring out the color in his body and then he was done. He stands about 14" tall and has a real industrial feel to him compared to the last few I've made. That's the fun part, though, they all come out different with their own personalities!
A lot of people ask me where I get all of the crazy parts I use in my artwork. Last week, I made a trip to one of my favorite places to go to. Clines, outside of Charlotte, NC.
You definitely have to have the right mentality to go there. If you don't like rolling up your sleeves and getting dirty, then it's not your kind of place.
Judging from the dealer trucks and traffic they get, seems like people are willing to dig for a bargain!
