I did a post a little while back about a fundraiser we are doing for The Humane Society at our local artist co-op. I finished my "cat lover" typewriter key bracelet yesterday that will be donated to the event. The kitty charm on it was given to me by my sister- in- law a few years ago.
Pam takes in abandoned cats and nurses them back to health. She is the one people go to when they find a stray cat and she never says no. She nurses them back to health and finds them a home. If she can't find a good home, they become a part of her family. This charm was in a batch of old jewelry that she gave me to use in my artwork. I thought it was really sweet and was saving it to use in a special project. This charm gives special meaning to the bracelet because it reminds me of her selfless attitude and compassion.
There's another kitty bracelet that will be making its way to the fundraiser. This one is from Debbie Metti. Check out her blog, Kitten Creates, to learn more about Debbie's life and art.
This is called "love the kitties" and it's tribute to her cat, Sophie, who recently passed away. She was 16 years old, a rescue animal and was a loving companion that traveled cross country over the years as Debbie moved to different locations. I can only imagine how much she will be missed.
So, it's not too late to join in on the fun. If you have a pet you would like to pay tribute to (it can be a dog or a bird too!) and would like to make a donation, we would love to hear from you. You can also make up something less complicated than these bracelets. Debbie is working on some fun ornaments that will be lower in price. We want to have items that appeal to everyone, not just high end art and jewelry pieces. I don't want to sound tacky, but cash donations are also being accepted. The reality is that litter and food and medication takes dollars.
Email me or leave a comment here...I'd love to hear from you!

I just purchased one of your braclets from The Artist Coop. I know you made it especially for me to find because of the name "SPIRIT". You had no way of knowing how special this is to me.
My son passed away in 2000 from a liver disease. His friends called him "Spirit" because of the work he did as a counselor with drug and alcohol centers and also around the world on the internet.
Many of his friends, I did not know how to get in touch with or even know their names to let them know of his passing.
I became "Spiritsmom" on the internet and his website to correspond with them. What a blessing each one gave me in this difficult time and I still keep in touch with many of them today.
Thank you for your work and I know you will bring many blessing to others just as you have to me.
Thank You,
Ann Graham

Thanks for featuring my bracelet, Jeannette! I've been working on more items to send to you, too...and I'll be sure to get them there in time to help raise money for all the furry friends.
