Early morning find

I've been trying to get out for a run every morning since the holidays.  Today, I felt like the early bird (freezing her butt off) who caught the worm.  In our town, we have a truck that comes around and picks up larger stuff when it's put out by the street.  That means you never know what you'll find.  Usually it's just junk that needs to go to the landfill, but this morning I spotted a pile of old spindles that had been thrown out.

I guess someone took them down and put up white vinyl rails.  I can totally relate to that.  Sanding and painting railings is so much work.   Well, I could hardly pass these by, so I got home and drove back to load them up.

Now, what to do with them? 

This light is interesting, but not quite my style.

A wreath might be a cool idea....I think it might look good with all the same spindles, but I don't think I have enough.

Candle holders are also a possibility.

I'll probably pile them into a big basket or bucket and just enjoy their texture and style.   Sometimes the best ideas come to me when I just put something aside and let it simmer for awhile....then one morning I will wake up and know exactly what I want to do with them!  I'll keep you posted.

Fun stuff! I'd bet you could somehow mount them on a wall (floating ladder style) to hang magazines or towels/linens over? Just throwing my first idea out there. I'm sure you'll come up with something great! Way to go with the running thing.:)
