Day 12
Inside your closet
Ho-Hum....this one's not a very exciting topic, but here it is.
But we did have some interesting decorating going on today. I've been contemplating what to do with the wall behind our bed since we stripped wallpaper and repainted last spring.
In decorating ideas, I've run the gammut from stenciling to hanging a row of chairs across the wall to rub on wall art. It can be difficult when your walls are plaster and chunks tend to fall out when you put nails in, so I couldn't put anything too heavy up there. Also, it's a big empty space to fill with 12' high ceilings. What to do?
I ended up buying a curtain rod and 2 drapery panels. I hung a vintage dress in the center and decorated it with rhinestone pins.
I really love the way it came out. It makes the room cozier and cuts down on the echo a bit. While we were on a roll, we dug out all of our vintage musical instruments and got those hung, too.
Ever since I found the tuba at a flea market , I've wanted to get the rest of our instruments arranged around it. They all belonged to family on my husband's side. The violin was his grandmother's, the trumpet was his grandfather's and the ukelale was bought by his mom in Hawaii many years ago.
So now, almost a year later, I think the bedroom is finally finished.
Never say never, though! I still have an idea for bookshelves inside the nook. More on that later.

Thank you so much! You are so sweet : ) Yes, that dress could be creepy or cool...I'm not sure which. Maybe it depends on the lighting. I better not ever see it moving on its own...I'll never be able to sleep there again!

Well, I think it is absolutely wonderful! Love the fabric treatment over the bed, and it DOES make it look so textural and inviting. What a great place to display that wonderful vintage dress and jewelry. The instruments really give the whole room a personality and now I want to see that dress get up and dance when no one is looking! Well done.
