Farewell to Summer Art Camp

I can finally breathe a sigh of relief....all of my summer obligations are over.  After coming back from Texas on Saturday, I still had another week of art camp to teach starting Monday morning.  Thanks to the good helpers at The Artist's Coop, everything was pretty well organized and I stepped right into it.

We had a variety of activities for the kids including painting, collage, bottle cap art, zentangle and I even got my mom in to teach a beading class.

She's a great sport and always willing to help out.  This is the 1st time we've offered the kid's classes and it really went so well.   I initiated the program when the school year was winding down and we had parents inquiring about summer activities.  It's a win-win situation that needed to be taken advantage of.  As an all volunteer art co-op, we are always looking for ways to bring in money.  The kids got some great art classes in the nice cool basement studio and everyone was happy!

Back from Texas

We got back a few days ago from a trip to Texas and it feels so good to be home.  

On our way there, we made a side trip to Scott's in Atlanta.  They had a few tented areas that had potential, but I bypassed most of the indoor buildings.

These were some of my favorite things there:

I picked up a few things there, but found most of it to be pretty pricey.  After a bit of shopping, we were back on the road.

Finally...Texas.  

We had some fun times with family and shared a laugh or two.

I had to get a picture of this sign....I thought it was a cute way to say, "No Parking."

And then before we knew it, it was time to head back home.

Only 1000 miles to go!  I've spent too much time in the car lately.  Now, it's time to stay home and enjoy the rest of the summer.

Art Camp

It's been an interesting few days...to say the least.  We started kid's art camp at our local artist's co-op at the beginning of the week and oh my, I had forgotten what it's all like.  Trying to keep a group of energetic kids busy with an art project for 3 hours a day can be challenging..... and a little exhausting.  I so admire people who teach as a profession!  

We've painted with them, done bottle cap art, zentangle, beading and today will be mosaics.  My kids are grown, so it took me a day or so to really get back into it.  But now, it's going along smoothly without a hitch.  (I'm sure part of my confidence is due to the fact that this is the last day of camp!)

In 2 weeks, we start all over again with a second session.  Yikes.

No rest for the weary around here, though. Even though I would love to lounge around in my jammies for about 10 days, on Saturday, I am heading to Scott's Antique Market in Atlanta, GA.  This is one flea market that's on my bucket list to visit in my lifetime.  It's only about 3 hours from my home, but for some reason, I have never gotten there.  So, this will be the weekend.  I really hope it lives up to my expectations.
