Are we all in Christmas mode yet? I don't know about you, but I am getting to the point where I've had enough. Already, there's been too much baking, holiday music and scented candles that smell like peppermint and balsam fir.
I was ready for a break from all the Christmas preparation today, so I made a trip to my favorite salvage yard.
You can never tell what you are going to find there, so I like to get by as often as possible. Unfortunately, he had almost no escutcheons or drawer pulls, which was one of the reason that I went. I was able to find a bunch of rosettes, though, so it wasn't a wasted trip.
This is what I have to dig through to find my treasures. By now, I've learned to bring along a pair of gloves and an empty bucket!
It's funny when I think back about 8-10 years. I used to buy hardware for a few dollars apiece and there was always lots of it around at the flea markets. I've seen it get harder to find in the last few years and definitely more expensive when you can get it. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to look a little harder.
OK, I don't want to be a total scrooge about Christmas, so I'll leave you with some pretty holiday pictures from pinterest!
and a cheerful, "Merry Christmas!"
