This weekend had been shaping up to be warm and rain free, so I thought I would get out and find some new treasures. I got up bright and early this morning and hit the road. My first stop was the flea market.
This one is always so hit and miss. Sorry to say, many times it's not worth the hour drive to get there. Too many new things and not enough of the old stuff. I did run into a few decent vendors and managed to pick up a find or two.
Some fun little trinkets.
This painting is just so weird. The duck and the fish....what is that in the background, a grazing buffalo? I can see it on my wall with a bunch of paint-by- number pictures or other strange paintings. The vendor eagerly told me $20, but I just couldn't make myself haul it home.
Just when I was about to leave, I ran across a coin dealer. After a bit of negotiation, he agreed to sell me coins in bulk, 10 lbs. of them to be exact. Oh, what I can do with all these coins, my head is spinning with possibilities! That one buy made the trip worthwhile for me. That's how it happens sometimes.
I kept moving along and meandered into some yard sales.
I love this group of old drawers made out of vintage boxes. I took the hose and a scrub brush to them when I got home and they look 100% better now.
I found these old wooden grates at the salvage yard. I love the structural design of them. This hook rug had just a little bit of water damage on the back side. A steal for $10.....I'll put it in my work space. For that price, I won't get too upset if it gets messed up a bit.
Chippy paint boards in bright colors....couldn't resist.
This was the rest of my haul for the day. I didn't do too badly after all...and I was home before noon. That's what I call a productive morning!
