I'll be giving away this delicious pile of relics from the past on Monday, June 16th. All you need to do is leave a comment here to enter. You can also go over to my facebook page and share to enter twice.
I don't know if you've noticed lately, but the "new items listed" in my etsy shop have gone way up in the past few weeks. I would like to say that it's me...putting my nose to the grindstone and working hard, but I can't take all the credit.
My 17 year old niece, Erin, asked me a few months ago if she could come visit this summer and learn about running an online business. Of course I said yes, because she's a sweetheart. She arrived from Missouri and it didn't take long before we began.
We talked about business for a few days, worked with the camera, did some basics on photoshop and then began listing items on etsy. She's smart and has a great attitude so she picked it all up very quickly. After working for about a week, I felt like she was ready for a field trip.
We set our alarms, got up at the crack of dawn and headed for the flea market.
I gave her her own money to spend and told her to remember everything we had talked about and to trust her instincts.
She did a great job finding unique things at a reasonable price. I think she really has a knack for this. By the end of the morning she had empty pockets, a bag full of treasures and a big smile on her face.
So now comes the fun part (and the work). She has to clean up, photograph and list her items. She's working for it and will keep the money from what sells...so we'd appreciate you taking a look and making a purchase if you see something you like.
Here's some of the listings she's done so far:
A metal cab whistle. I love this! She found it all on her own and I've never seen anything like it. If I had spotted this first, I would have made a necklace out of it!
She found a really nice selection of skeleton keys. They were reasonable, so she's able to keep the price low on them.
She came across quite a few interesting books, this vintage shorthand book being one of them. Great for collage or altered art!
It's not all work and no play around here. She is on summer break afterall! We are getting our share of shopping in, doing some cooking and watching movies. We will both be working on a lot more listings in the next few weeks....so keep checking in! We post daily on facebook, too, so you can "like" us there for the most current information.
