Well, here it is, 2015 and the days are already slipping by. Where did Christmas go this year? Seems like it was here and then gone in a flash.
2014 was certainly a full and busy year for me, personally and business wise. I did 8 shows, mostly in the Spring and Fall. I try to do a few new ones each year and then go back to the tried and true favorites as well.
For some reason the weather Gods were cooperating with us during show season. We didn't have any wash-outs and for the most part, the temperatures were mild.
I did lots (and lots) of flea marketing and antiquing.
Although I have a lot of stock on hand, you know I'll continue to make the before dawn treks to these shows.
We can't have all work and no play, so we squeezed in a few amazing trips during the year, too.
Savannah, Georgia and Beaufort, SC made a fun weekend getaway during the summer months.....
.....and then we headed to Hawaii at the end of August to see my husband's son and his family. We met the baby for the 1st time and just had a ball there. We did all the touristy stuff and spent a lot of time hanging out with family.
They are stationed at Oahu at this time and I really hope we can make a trip back before he gets his next assignment.
I'm skipping around a little here, but we also had a wedding in the family. After being together for 5 years, my son and his lovely fiance got married in June.
I was very proud of my boys this year. My older son graduated from college after being a return student. I love his determination!
So, those are just some of the highlights. 2015 is starting off with a flurry of activities and decision making. I am already signed up for most of my Spring shows which start in April. Lots of preperation awaits, but new designs and items are in the works.
We also may have a move ahead of us. We've always loved the mountains of North Carolina and have made that area our "go to" place when we need to get out of town. We love to hike and the artsy vibe most of these mountain towns offer is contageous.
So...we have decided to shoot for a move in the future. There may be a lot of time before that happens since we need to sell our house and figure out exactly where we want to go, but we are making a step in that direction. I'm finding it can be scary, but also exciting. I have a lot of mixed emotions about leaving the people and the little town we are now living in. We have put down roots here. Time will tell, though, how it all plays out.
And last but not least....how could I not mention these guys? We had two new additions to the family this year. Of course, these were not planned, but homeless animals just seem to keep finding us.
Duke made himself right at home here in the late Spring.
Simon showed up shortly afterwards. We had a little adjustment period with 2 dogs and 2 cats that were all new to each other, but we are now one big happy family.
OK, I wish you a slightly belated, but very HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Thank you for your continued support in my online shops as well as coming to see me at shows. (I hope this has not sounded too much like one of those dreaded letters people send out with their Christmas cards!)
